The massive hormonal changes taking place in your body can cause you to feel emotional after birth. Add to this extreme tiredness and discomfort and it’s no wonder that you are left feeling pretty rotten. Baby blues tend to set in about 3 days after delivery, when you may find yourself feeling weepy, anxious and unable to cope.
Try to get as much rest as possible and don’t worry these feelings happen to most new mums. Having baby blues doesn’t mean that you will suffer with postnatal depression. If these feelings last for more than a few days or you feel very depressed then talk to your midwife, health visitor or GP.
